Mozaik Kiadó offers free digital textbooks amid approval restrictions

Mozaik Kiadó has announced that it will make its textbooks and workbooks available for free to all teachers and students via mozaweb.hu until the 2027/2028 textbook ordering period begins.

The publisher made this decision following a ministerial application process in which it submitted its entire range of textbook families for approval. The publisher reported that the response indicated no new textbooks could be added to the official list at this time, and only certain types of supplementary educational materials could be approved.

Mozaik Kiadó expressed professional disagreement with the current system, questioning why only existing state textbooks can remain on the registry while publishers are restricted to offering only supplementary tools rather than complete textbook families. The publisher noted that in systems like Finland's, there is no central textbook registry or state approval system that dictates which books teachers must use, allowing educators the professional freedom to choose the most appropriate materials for their students.
