Mozambique accepts 284 UN human rights recommendations

Mozambique has accepted 284 of the 292 recommendations issued during the fourth cycle of the United Nations Universal Periodic Review (UPR). The decision was announced by the Minister of Justice, Constitutional and Religious Affairs, Mateus Saize, during the 63rd session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.

The recommendations were submitted by 109 delegations following an interactive dialogue in May. After a national process of consultation and coordination led by the Inter-Ministerial Commission for Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law, the government opted to accept 284 recommendations and note eight.

Minister Saize stated that the adoption of the report marks the beginning of a new phase focused on implementing commitments through a participatory and results-oriented approach. He described the commitment to human rights as a pact with human dignity, justice, peace, the rule of law, and sustainable development. Regarding the eight noted recommendations, the minister clarified that the decision follows a legal and social analysis requiring further national dialogue rather than a rejection of human rights principles.
