Mozambique business sector advocates for maritime cabotage

The Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique (CTA) is advocating for a significant shift in the country's freight transport matrix by prioritizing maritime cabotage. This strategy aims to reduce high logistics costs and improve the efficiency of goods circulation between the northern, central, and southern regions of Mozambique.

During a seminar organized by the National Institute of Maritime Transport (ITRANSMAR) at the 61st FACIM edition, CTA Infrastructure President António Souza highlighted that developing a maritime cabotage network could alleviate pressure on long-distance road transport. Participants emphasized that establishing regular, predictable, and economically viable maritime cargo links would foster national economic integration and enhance overall economic competitiveness by reducing exclusive dependence on road networks.
