Overview

The Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique (CTA) has been advocating for various structural reforms to strengthen the national economy and improve industrial capacity.

Initially, CTA President Álvaro Massingue called for the integration of local companies into large-scale public projects through mandated subcontracting and technology transfer. He also addressed financial challenges such as state payment delays and urged private sector involvement in the affordable housing market. Additionally, the CTA sought to engage the private sector in the food value chain to address food security as an economic opportunity.

More recently, the CTA has shifted focus toward logistics and infrastructure. Through the CTA Infrastructure division, leadership has advocated for the development of a maritime cabotage network. This strategy is intended to reduce high logistics costs and decrease the country’s heavy reliance on long-distance road transport, thereby improving the circulation of goods between Mozambique’s northern, central, and southern regions.
