Mozambique expands international scholarship programs for higher education

Mozambique is expanding its international educational cooperation through various scholarship programs aimed at developing human capital in key sectors.

Over the last 50 years, Portugal has awarded approximately 2,700 scholarships to Mozambican students across various academic levels, including undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs. This year, 17 students were selected through the Camões Institute to study in Portugal, with seven focusing on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields. These students will attend institutions such as Universidade Nova de Lisboa and the University of Minho.

Additionally, the Mozambican Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy (MIREME) is sending 25 students to Malaysia and Germany to study specialized fields including Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Petroleum Price Negotiation. This initiative brings the total number of Mozambican scholarship holders in these two countries to 149, as part of a government strategy to qualify youth for the mineral and energy sectors.
