Mozambique initiates Portuguese-supported youth agricultural training hubs

The Associação dos Jovens Agricultores de Portugal (AJAP) announced plans to establish agricultural training poles in Mozambique to equip young producers with practical skills, technology and innovation. The initiative was presented by AJAP president Henrique Ferreira at the Agro‑Food Forum “Go To Market” in Maputo, with Portuguese ambassador Jorge Monteiro praising the knowledge‑transfer approach.

Mozambique’s Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Fisheries, Roberto Albino, echoed the need for practical training, noting that many graduates lack field experience. He highlighted incubation programmes as a way to bridge the gap between theory and practice and affirmed full government support for Portuguese cooperation, investment in technology and the development of a domestic agro‑industry.
