Mozambique launches Acredita Emprega to train 72,000 youth

The Government of Mozambique has launched the ‘Acredita Emprega’ program, an initiative designed to support 72,000 young people across the country’s 11 provinces through professional training scholarships and entrepreneurship support.

President Daniel Chapo presented the program in the Nicoadala district of Zambezia province. Out of 145,400 applications received, 72,000 beneficiaries were selected from 78 districts. The program places a significant emphasis on gender inclusion, with women accounting for 70% of the beneficiaries (50,400 individuals) compared to 21,600 men.

In addition to training, 14,400 women will receive non-reimbursable grants of 100,000 meticais to expand their businesses, accompanied by mentorship and specialized training. The program targets high-demand sectors such as technology, agriculture, and services to combat rising youth unemployment and foster local economic development.
