Mozambique launches e-ÁguaS digital water service platform
The Ministry of Public Works, Housing and Water Resources (MOPHRH) has launched e-ÁguaS, a national digital platform designed to modernize water supply services in Mozambique. The announcement was made on September 2, 2026, during the 61st Maputo International Trade Fair (FACIM).
The platform serves as an integrated digital hub for various provincial Water and Sanitation Supply Companies (SAAS). Through a web portal or mobile phone, consumers can access essential services including viewing and paying water bills, purchasing prepaid water top-ups, and monitoring their consumption history. The system is integrated with banking channels and mobile wallets to facilitate ease of use.
Hélio Banze, Permanent Secretary of MOPHRH, stated that the initiative marks the evolution of a regional solution into a nationwide service. The government aims to use the platform to increase billing transparency, reduce consumer complaints, and improve the overall quality and speed of service delivery.
