Mozambique President Daniel Chapo to attend energy forum and UN General Assembly

Mozambican President Daniel Chapo is traveling to Brazil to participate in the Petroleum and Gas Forum 2026 in Rio de Janeiro. As the keynote speaker, Chapo will address the theme ‘Energy Evolution for the Future,’ aiming to position Mozambique within global energy cooperation and the hydrocarbon sector.

Following the forum, the President will travel to New York to attend the 81st United Nations General Assembly. The assembly, themed ‘Restoring Trust, Managing Transformation,’ features high-level debates scheduled for late September. Key topics include organizational reform, Sustainable Development Goals, global peace, climate action, and pandemic preparedness. This session marks the final assembly under Secretary-General António Guterres before a successor takes office in January 2027.
