Mozambique President swears in new Bank of Mozambique leadership

President Daniel Chapo has inaugurated the new leadership of the Bank of Mozambique, emphasizing the urgent need for financial integrity and a banking system focused on productive investment, industrialization, and job creation.

During the ceremony in Maputo, Chapo swore in Benedita Maria Guimino as the bank's first female Vice-Governor. Guimino, a veteran with over 20 years at the central bank, follows the recent appointment of Felisberto Dinis Navalha as Governor. This restructuring completes the bank's primary leadership body following a decade of leadership under Rogério Zandamela.

Chapo called for “integrity and frontality” in management, urging the new team to work as a cohesive unit rather than seeking individual recognition. He stressed that monetary and fiscal policies must consider their real-world impact on families, workers, and businesses, while maintaining macroeconomic stability and the credibility of the Metical.
