Mozambique ruby production rises 61% in first half of 2026
Mozambique's ruby production increased by 61% during the first half of 2026, reaching more than 3.1 million carats. According to government data, production totaled 3,183,333 carats between January and June, compared to 1,972,110 carats during the same period in 2025.
This growth was primarily driven by the performance of mining companies in Cabo Delgado, the country's main ruby-producing region. The current output represents approximately 78% of the government's annual target of 4,062,547 carats set for 2026. Despite the strong semiannual performance, the report noted that some national producers have faced operational constraints.
