Mozambique to invest €42.6M in LNG revenue into public works by 2027
The Mozambican government plans to direct €42.6 million from liquefied natural gas (LNG) revenues toward public infrastructure in 2027. According to the draft Economic and Social Plan and State Budget (PESOE), these funds are intended for strategic sectors including road rehabilitation, education, health, and agriculture to improve living conditions.
Under Law No. 1/2024, 60% of LNG exploitation revenues are channeled into the State Budget via the Single Treasury Account, while 40% is allocated to the Mozambique Sovereign Wealth Fund.
The largest single allocation, €15.5 million, is earmarked for rehabilitating National Road No. 1 (N1), the country’s primary north-south transport corridor. Other major planned investments include €8 million for the education sector to build and equip schools, €6.9 million for the construction of a future Parliamentary City in Zambézia province, and €5.7 million for the health sector to improve hospital infrastructure.
