Turkey advances major tramway and infrastructure projects in Van, Konya, and Samsun

Turkey is advancing several major urban transportation and infrastructure projects across multiple cities.

In Van, a presidential decree has officially transferred the City Hospital-Airport-Municipality tram line project to the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure. The 8.67-kilometer line, featuring 11 stations, is designed to connect key hubs including the airport and hospital. By 2050, the line is projected to serve 10,305 passengers per hour in a single direction.

In Konya, the Adliye-City Hospital tram line has entered the test driving phase. Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay conducted the first test run, noting that the project will eventually expand into a 21.1-kilometer network connecting industrial zones and the stadium. Once completed, the project aims to provide seamless transit from the Alaaddin-Adliye line to the City Hospital.

In Samsun, infrastructure investments are accelerating, including the commencement of the Samsun Çarşamba Airport terminal buildings and a 13.3-kilometer City Hospital tram line project valued at approximately 6.5 billion TL. Additionally, work continues on the 16.3-kilometer Samsun West Ring Road project, which has a total value of 18 billion TL.
