Mărculești International Airport faces inquiry over extended interim leadership

Mărculești International Airport has been managed by an interim administrator for nearly three years, despite legislation limiting interim appointments to a maximum of one year. This discrepancy was addressed during a parliamentary inquiry commission meeting.

Representatives from the Public Property Agency (APP) stated that while discussions regarding a competitive selection process for the administrator position began in 2024, the procedure was not initiated. Natalia Patrașcu, a director at the APP, explained that the delay was due to ongoing work regarding legislative changes to infrastructure management and a total inventory of the enterprise's assets. She noted that the current interim administrator, Nicolae Clichici, has held the position since December 12, 2023.

These explanations were contested by Dinu Plîngău, the president of the inquiry commission, who argued that the law mandates a competitive selection process. The APP has committed to organizing a contest for the administrator position and emphasized its insistence on boards of directors initiating such contests for all entities currently under interim management.
