Regional governments launch tax and fine reduction programs
Various regional governments in Argentina, Mexico, and Peru have announced tax amnesty and fine reduction programs to encourage debt regularization.
In Buenos Aires, Argentina, the ARBA agency is launching a special payment plan starting October 26. The program offers tiered discounts of up to 40% for cash payments, with smaller reductions for installment plans. The initiative covers taxes such as Gross Income, Stamps, Real Estate, Motor Vehicles, and Sporting Vessels. Regularizing these debts is a prerequisite for accessing tax benefits in 2027.
In Tijuana, Mexico, the municipal government is offering a 50% discount on traffic fines and surcharges for violations recorded before September 14, 2026. The program is valid until December 29, 2026, provided the total remaining debt is paid. This measure excludes fines for parking in spaces reserved for persons with disabilities.
In Peru, the Ministry of Transport and Communications has issued a decree allowing drivers to pay outstanding traffic fines with a 90% discount. This voluntary program is available until November 23, 2026, and aims to facilitate compliance without affecting driver license points or recidivism records.
