San Luis Potosí initiates audits of federalized funds and municipal resources

Authorities in San Luis Potosí have launched comprehensive audits of federalized resources across the state's 59 municipalities. Governor Ricardo Gallardo Cardona emphasized a policy of accountability, stating that "every public peso must be verified, made transparent, and subjected to review." This effort is being coordinated through an agreement between the Auditoría Superior de la Federación (ASF) and the Instituto de Fiscalización Superior del Estado (IFSE).

Rodrigo Joaquín Lecourtois López, head of the IFSE, warned that auditors will focus heavily on preventing the diversion of public funds for electoral purposes during the upcoming 2026-2027 election cycle. The audits will examine government purchases, public works contracts, and payrolls to identify risks of corruption or political misuse by municipal leaders.

Parallel to fiscal oversight, concerns have been raised regarding municipal police performance. Legislator Luis Fernando Gámez Macías highlighted the need for increased investment in professionalization and better salaries for officers. In the capital city, Mayor Enrique Galindo Ceballos ordered an internal investigation into municipal security forces following a controversial video, promising to use GPS and surveillance data to determine if any misconduct occurred.
