MSC announces new shipping rates for Morocco and Mediterranean

Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has announced a new pricing structure for routes from the Far East to the Mediterranean, North Europe, and the Black Sea. The new Freight All Kinds (FAK) rates are scheduled to take effect between October 19 and October 31, 2026, and will remain in place until further notice.

Specific rates have been established for Moroccan ports, including Casablanca, Agadir, and Nador. For these destinations, the cost is set at $4,550 for a 20-foot container and $5,500 for a 40-foot container. Casablanca is being treated as a distinct pricing tier from the Western Mediterranean average.

The pricing includes various surcharges driven by security and operational concerns. These include a Piracy Risk Surcharge of $55 per twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) and a Suez Canal Surcharge of $36 per TEU, cited due to piracy risks near the Arabian Peninsula. Other applicable fees include global fuel surcharges, emission control area surcharges, and carbon-related fees.
