MSME initiatives focus on market access and growth in India and Jamaica

Micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) are receiving increased focus through various regional initiatives aimed at improving market access and digital capabilities.

In India, the Walmart Vriddhi Connect event addressed pathways for MSME growth, including cross-border trade, digital commerce, and access to finance. The Government of Andhra Pradesh is supporting these efforts through the MSME and Entrepreneurship Development Policy 2024–29, which includes the development of 175 MSME Parks. Walmart’s engagement in the region involves capability-building, sourcing, and supporting smallholder farmers.

In Jamaica, the Jamaica Business Development Corporation (JBDC) is collaborating with the MSME Alliance, the Small Business Association of Jamaica (SBAJ), and the Young Entrepreneurs Association (YEA). The focus of these discussions is to transition businesses from basic capacity building toward market readiness and sustainable commercial growth to ensure a tangible impact on the wider economy.
