MST launches nationwide fairs and educator summit to boost agrarian reform in Brazil

The Movimento dos Trabalhadores Rurais Sem Terra (MST) is coordinating a series of state fairs across Brazil to showcase agroecological products, healthy food and the movement’s vision of food sovereignty. The fairs began in Recife, Pernambuco, from 29 July to 1 August 2026 and will continue in Sergipe (26‑29 August), Alagoas (9‑12 September in Maceió), Minas Gerais (11‑13 September), Mato Grosso (5‑7 November), São Paulo (Campinas, 6‑8 November) and other states, bringing producers and urban consumers together in public spaces.

In parallel, the MST held the IX State Meeting of Educators of the Agrarian Reform in Governador Valadares, Minas Gerais, from 29 to 31 July, gathering about 100 teachers, activists and partners. Participants discussed the “Pedagogy of the Movement,” reinforced the commitment to a popular field education, and explored ways to integrate environmental and anti‑racist themes into rural schooling. Both initiatives aim to strengthen community ties, promote sustainable agriculture and advance the MST’s broader agenda for land reform and social transformation.
