MT Asharami Ghana delivers first 5,000MT LPG cargo to Ghana
The MT Asharami Ghana, a 40,000-cubic-metre Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) carrier, has completed its maiden voyage to Ghana, delivering 5,000 metric tonnes of LPG. The arrival of the vessel and the commissioning of a new LPG facility at the Tema Oil Jetty are intended to strengthen Ghana’s energy security and position the nation as a strategic hub for regional energy trade.
Sahara Group, the operator of the vessel, stated that the investment supports Ghana’s goal of increasing LPG adoption from 30 per cent to 50 per cent of households by 2030. Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor, Minister for Energy and Green Transition, noted that such investments are essential for expanding access to cleaner energy solutions and achieving national clean cooking objectives.
During the commissioning ceremony, Asharami Ghana’s Executive Director, Adewale Ajibade, commended National Petroleum Authority (NPA) CEO Godwin Edudzi Tameklo for his guidance and support in facilitating the vessel’s arrival and the company’s infrastructure development.
