MTA announces major New York subway service changes

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) has announced a nine-day service disruption beginning Saturday, November 7, through Monday, November 16, as part of its largest signal and track replacement project in history. The work focuses on the Liberty Avenue line to support the transition to Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC), replacing signal equipment that dates back to the 1930s.

During this period, trains will not operate between Rockaway Blvd and Ozone Park–Lefferts Blvd. Instead, service will run between Rockaway Blvd and Howard Beach–JFK Airport. Free shuttle buses will replace the suspended train service, arriving every 3 to 5 minutes during peak hours and every 10 minutes during off-peak hours. Additionally, overnight Lefferts Shuttle service between Lefferts Blvd and Euclid Ave will be suspended.
