MTN and Standard Chartered launch digital skills initiatives in Africa
MTN has launched an AI-enabled Job Board feature via its MTN Skills Academy to improve digital and economic inclusion. The platform integrates learning, job discovery, and application tracking, helping users align their current skills with employer requirements and identify necessary training to bridge skill gaps.
In Nigeria, Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria Limited has partnered with Junior Achievement Nigeria to conduct a 10-day digital bootcamp for over 600 young people. The program, spanning Ondo, Abuja, Rivers, and Kaduna states, provides training in fields such as cybersecurity, data analysis, project management, and UI/UX design to improve employability and entrepreneurship.
These initiatives address the growing demand for digital capabilities in Africa. The International Finance Corporation estimates that more than 230 million jobs in sub-Saharan Africa will require digital skills by 2030.
