MTN digital skills training initiatives in Africa

Overview

MTN South Africa has implemented various digital skills training initiatives to address the growing digital-skills gap in Africa.

In the Western Cape, the MTN South Africa Foundation and MTN Skills Academy, in partnership with several local organizations and government bodies, graduated 80 unemployed youths from the Digital Skills for Digital Jobs (DS4DJ) programme. This six-month course provided accredited qualifications in cybersecurity, data analytics, and systems development.

Expanding its scope, MTN launched an AI-enabled Job Board feature through its MTN Skills Academy to integrate learning with job discovery and application tracking. Concurrently, in Nigeria, Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria Limited partnered with Junior Achievement Nigeria to host a 10-day digital bootcamp for over 600 young people across several states, covering fields such as UI/UX design, project management, and data analysis.
