MTN Foundation and SAIL train Nigerian teachers in AI and digital skills

The MTN Foundation and SAIL Empowerment Foundation have completed a training phase of the MTN-SAIL Teachers’ Fellowship, targeting public school educators in Nigeria. The initiative focuses on strengthening digital literacy, inquiry-based learning, and modern teaching methodologies to prepare educators for technology-driven classrooms.

This latest cohort marks a significant shift toward integrating artificial intelligence into the curriculum. Through a partnership with Microsoft, the program provided formal training in responsible AI-assisted teaching, making these participants among the first public school teachers in the country to receive such instruction.

Since its launch in 2022, the fellowship has reached thousands of teachers across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. The program aims to create a multiplier effect, where trained educators apply new digital competencies to improve learning outcomes for students in underserved communities.
