Muhammadiyah provides humanitarian aid to NTT earthquake survivors

Muhammadiyah is conducting extensive humanitarian operations to assist survivors of the 7.7 magnitude earthquake that struck seven regencies in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) on August 15, 2026. Through the Muhammadiyah Disaster Management Center (MDMC) and Lazismu, the organization has established a regional coordination post in Ende and seven local coordination posts across the affected regencies, alongside 10 service posts.

Humanitarian efforts are organized into three priority clusters: health, non-health, and logistics. In the health sector, Emergency Medical Teams (EMT) including Type-1 Fixed and Mobile units are providing care. As of early September 2026, medical services have treated thousands of survivors, including infants, children, adults, and the elderly. The EMT Type-1 Fixed team has established a field hospital at the Dampek Community Health Center in East Manggarai.

Non-health services include community kitchens serving approximately 1,750 people, the provision of clean water and sanitation facilities, and psychosocial support for over 1,700 individuals. Logistics support has involved the distribution of family kits, school kits, food supplies, and tarpaulins to aid those displaced by the disaster.
