Muhoozi Kainerugaba receives endorsements from former Ugandan MPs for 2031

More than 200 former Members of Parliament from Uganda’s 10th Parliament have endorsed General Muhoozi Kainerugaba for the 2031 presidential election. Led by former Sheema District Woman MP Jacklet Atuhaire Rwabukurukuru, the group, identifying as the ‘317 Historicals’, pledged to use their grassroots networks to mobilize nationwide support. The former legislators described the endorsement as a move toward a new generation of leadership focused on peace, stability, and socio-economic transformation.

In the Acholi subregion, the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) is preparing for a regional launch of the endorsement and enrollment exercise. In Kitgum District, PLU leadership has resolved to participate fully in the upcoming launch scheduled for September 28, 2026, in Gulu City. Following the regional event, the endorsement process is expected to roll out at the sub-county and municipality levels across all 22 lower local government units in Kitgum.
