Muğla expands student dormitory capacity by 77%

AK Party Muğla Deputy Kadem Mete announced a significant expansion in student housing capacity within the Muğla province for the 2026-2027 academic year. Following the opening of a new dormitory in the Menteşe district with a capacity for 1,500 female students, the total number of dormitories in the region has increased from seven to 11.

Mete reported that the total student housing capacity has risen from 8,317 to 14,708, representing an approximately 77% increase. This expansion follows technical evaluations and the demolition of certain dormitory blocks due to earthquake performance analyses, with a focus on ensuring student safety through modern facilities.

Additionally, construction of a new 400-capacity dormitory in Bodrum is 85% complete. This facility, which will accommodate 200 female and 200 male students, is scheduled to open in December 2026. Once operational, the total number of dormitories under the Ministry of Youth and Sports in Muğla will reach 12, with a total capacity of 15,108.
