Rome fire crews battle several brush fires across the capital

Multiple brush fires erupted in Rome on 5 July 2026, affecting several streets including Via Pineta Sacchetti, Via Raimondo Scintu and Via delle Ceramiche. Firefighters from the Rome command, supported by the Protezione Civile, deployed three fire‑engine crews, two water‑tank trucks and three helicopters to contain the blazes. Volunteer emergency groups supplied rapid‑refill water tanks that shortened helicopter turnaround times, and a newly installed fire‑hydrant column helped keep ground crews supplied.

The fires, suspected to have an anthropogenic origin, also spread to nearby towns such as Anzio and Ardea, where additional crews and civil‑protection units participated. Authorities reported the situation was under control despite strong winds and wide flame fronts, and investigations into the cause are ongoing.
