Indonesia residential fires cause multiple fatalities

A series of residential fires across Indonesia has resulted in multiple fatalities and significant property damage. In Jakarta, several incidents occurred within a short timeframe. In Pulogadung, East Jakarta, a fire at a residence on Jalan Drompol claimed the lives of two elderly residents, Sintawati (90) and Eka Ariyono (60). Authorities suspect an electrical issue caused the blaze. In Matraman, two young men, Muhammad Fadel (17) and Rezi (21), died after becoming trapped on the second floor of a house that also served as a medical equipment business.

Other incidents in Jakarta included a fire in North Jakarta where a 76-year-old woman sustained burns after a gas stove explosion, and another fire in Semper Barat that caused approximately Rp210 million in damages but resulted in no casualties.

In Kediri, East Java, a 73-year-old man named Sarwono died when a fire broke out at his home on Jalan Dandangan. The blaze, which caused an estimated Rp300 million in losses, is also suspected to have been triggered by an electrical short circuit.
