Florești apartment fire affects 16 homes

A major fire broke out at an apartment building on Eroilor Street in Florești, Cluj County, affecting 16 apartments and approximately 400 square meters of the roof. Initial reports suggest the blaze may have been caused by an improvised electrical installation.

Emergency services, including ISU Cluj, responded with multiple specialized vehicles and ladders. While no direct injuries from the flames were reported, approximately 20 residents evacuated the building, seven people were treated for panic attacks, and a woman in her 60s was transported to the hospital for further investigation. One cat was also rescued from the building.

Florești Mayor Bogdan Pivariu stated that emergency housing has been secured for the affected families. The mayor emphasized the dangers of unauthorized electrical work, warning that temporary improvisations can lead to rapid, life-threatening tragedies. Authorities are continuing to assess the total damage and establish the exact cause of the fire.
