Multiple residential fires reported in France

Two separate residential fires occurred in France on October 20, 2026.

In Brimeux, a fire broke out in a house on Rue de la Gare around 7:00 PM. While the owner attempted to extinguish the flames with a garden hose, firefighters from Montreuil-sur-Mer, Étaples-sur-Mer, and Hesdin-la-Forêt were required to contain the blaze. The three occupants—a couple and a child—were unharmed but have been relocated to stay with family as the home is uninhabitable. Gendarmerie officials have opened an investigation into the cause.

In Nice, an apartment fire at 12 Corniche Bellevue destroyed a ground-floor unit around 4:30 AM. The incident forced the evacuation of 22 people from the building. No injuries were reported. Preliminary police findings suggest the fire was accidental, caused by an intoxicated occupant who left a frying pan on a stove. The individual was taken into custody for public intoxication.
