India reports multiple fires including historic Koder House and Mumbai train rake
Several significant fire incidents were reported across India. In Fort Kochi, a fire gutted the historic Koder House, a 218-year-old landmark of Jewish heritage currently being converted into a heritage hotel. The blaze, suspected to be caused by a short circuit, required assistance from the Indian Navy’s Southern Naval Command to bring under control.
In Mumbai, a fire broke out in the pantry car of an empty train rake at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) yard during the early hours of Wednesday. Railway officials confirmed the rake was empty, and no injuries or casualties occurred.
In the Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir, a major fire in Mungli village destroyed at least eight houses and several cowsheds. While no human casualties were reported, some livestock died in the blaze. Local residents used earth movers to create firebreaks to prevent further spread.
