Mumbai High Tide Triggers IMD Heavy Rain Alerts Across Indian States

India's Meteorological Department (IMD) issued heavy to very heavy rain alerts for a wide swath of the country, including Assam, Meghalaya, Bihar, eastern Uttar Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Uttarakhand and several other states. The agency also warned of possible storms, strong winds and lightning in the affected regions.

At the same time, Mumbai's Marine Drive experienced a high tide, prompting concerns over coastal flooding and dangerous sea conditions. IMD cautioned that wind speeds could reach 40‑60 km/h in parts of Jammu & Kashmir and the Arabian Sea coast, and advised residents to avoid unnecessary travel, stay in safe locations and heed local authorities' instructions. Emergency services have been put on alert in the city.
