Mumbai train services disrupted by CSMT redevelopment and mega block
Train services in Mumbai are facing significant disruptions due to ongoing redevelopment and maintenance work. A 75-day traffic and power block at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) began on October 1 and is scheduled to continue until December 15. This block, intended to facilitate foundation and structural work by the Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA), affects Platforms 14 and 15.
As a result of the CSMT redevelopment, eight long-distance trains will be short-terminated. Seven of these services, including the Nandigram Express, Howrah-CSMT Express, and Tejas Express, will terminate at Dadar, while the Mangaluru-CSMT Express will terminate at Thane.
Additionally, Mumbai suburban local train services are affected by a mega block scheduled for October 4. This maintenance work impacts the Central, Harbour, Trans-Harbour, and Western lines. Disruptions include service diversions, cancellations between Panvel and CSMT, and a four-hour jumbo block on the Western Line between Borivali and Ram Mandir.
