Mumbai railway infrastructure maintenance
Overview
Mumbai railway authorities have implemented several service disruptions to facilitate infrastructure maintenance and expansion projects.
In early September 2026, Central Railway initiated a 15-day period of traffic and power blocks to expand platforms at Titwala station to accommodate 15-coach trains. This work has caused cancellations and terminations of suburban services between Titwala and Kasara, while also causing delays for long-distance mail-express trains. Additionally, a mega block was scheduled for September 6 to conduct track repairs and safety works affecting the main line and Harbour line services.
Following these works, Central Railway announced a further scheduled mega block for September 13. This maintenance period is expected to impact the Main Line between Thane and Kalyan, where slow and semi-fast services will be diverted to fast lines, and the Trans-Harbour Line, where all services between Thane and Vashi/Nerul will be suspended for five hours.
