MUNAL hosts free concerts by German Choir Ensemble and National Opera Studio
The Museo Nacional de Arte (MUNAL) will present two free concerts on consecutive days. On Saturday, 11 July, the Estudio de la Ópera de Bellas Artes (EOBA) will stage a 20th‑century opera concert featuring arias and excerpts by Richard Strauss, Igor Stravinski, Benjamin Britten, Leonard Bernstein and others. The program includes works such as “Großmächtige Prinzessin” (Strauss) and “The Rake’s Progress” (Stravinski) and will be performed by EOBA singers under the artistic coordination of Cassandra Zoé Velasco.
On Sunday, 12 July, the German Choir Ensemble, directed by Edwin Calderón and accompanied by pianist Svetlana Logounova, will perform “Spiritualidad sonora”. The repertoire spans medieval chant, Renaissance polyphony, Baroque sacred works, Latin American colonial villancicos and contemporary pieces, concluding with Christopher Tin’s “Baba Yetu”. Both events are free to the public and are part of MUNAL’s program to showcase diverse vocal traditions.
