Munich hosts 10,000‑cyclist rally on Königplatz urging safer bike infrastructure

Around 10,000 cyclists gathered on Sunday in Munich for the Allgemeiner Deutscher Fahrrad‑Club (ADFC) München’s Radsternfahrt, covering routes from across Upper Bavaria to the city’s Königplatz. The mass ride, backed by 14 police‑escorted columns, highlighted demand for improved cycling conditions, especially for children and seniors.

Munich’s Oberbürgermeister Dominik Krause rode with participants and addressed the crowd, urging authorities to advance safe bike‑lane networks, school‑route safety and the elimination of hazardous intersections. ADFC officials called the turnout a clear signal to policymakers to prioritize cycling infrastructure despite financial constraints.
