Munich police arrest suspect in fatal homeless shelter attack

In Munich, a 55-year-old Iranian man was killed in a homeless shelter in the Obersendling district. Emergency services responded to a call around 6:30 PM on Thursday and found the victim with severe injuries; despite resuscitation attempts, he died at the scene. A 22-year-old German man, who also resided in the shelter, was arrested by the Federal Police at the Munich central station approximately 90 minutes after the initial emergency call. The suspect has been placed in a psychiatric facility following a court order.

In a separate incident in Dortmund, police responded to reports of noise disturbances involving shouting and banging. Upon arrival, officers were threatened by a 38-year-old man wielding what appeared to be a firearm. After a standoff involving special forces, the man surrendered voluntarily and was taken into custody with minor injuries. A blank-firing gun was recovered at the scene, and the individual was transferred to a psychiatric institution due to suspected mental illness.
