Municipal cooperation funds projected to grow in Cantabria and San Clemente

In Cantabria, Spain, the Municipal Cooperation Fund is projected to reach 20,513,184 euros in 2027. This represents a 5.4% increase of over one million euros compared to the current year, driven by the regional consumer price index (CPI) adjustments. Since 2023, the fund has grown by 19.8%, outpacing the cumulative CPI increase of 13.3% for the same period.

The regional government aims to approve fund distribution every January and complete payments within the first quarter to provide municipalities with greater planning certainty. Additional support includes 2,450,000 euros for local entity aid and 2,279,500 euros over five years for installing ATMs in municipalities at risk of depopulation.

In San Clemente, Chile, the municipality has been allocated 93,188,752 pesos through the 2026 Municipal Management Improvement Incentive Fund (FIGEM). Managed by the Undersecretariat of Regional and Administrative Development (Subdere), the fund rewards local governments for meeting indicators related to transparency, efficiency, and administrative responsibility. In the Maule Region, FIGEM 2026 will distribute over 1,890 million pesos across 18 communes.
