Chilean municipal management incentive fund distribution
Overview
The Municipal Management Improvement Incentive Fund (FIGEM), administered by Chile’s Undersecretariat of Regional and Administrative Development (Subdere), is being distributed to various municipalities based on performance indicators such as transparency, legal compliance, and administrative responsibility.
In late September 2026, several municipalities received awards, including the Molina commune, which was granted over 122 million pesos for capital expenditures. In the Ñuble region, at least 11 municipalities benefited, with the communes of Bulnes and El Carmen each receiving 92.2 million pesos. Subdere officials noted that these resources are strictly reserved for capital expenditures, such as infrastructure and equipment, and cannot be used for operating expenses like salaries.
By October 2026, reports indicated that in the Maule Region, FIGEM 2026 would distribute over 1,890 million pesos across 18 communes. Specifically, the municipality of San Clemente was allocated 93,188,752 pesos.
