Municipal DIF offices in Mexico implement disability support programs

Municipal DIF offices in San Luis Potosí and Puebla are implementing programs to support citizens with disabilities. In San Luis Capital, the “Inclusión con acción” program distributed over 100 wheelchairs and walkers to improve autonomy and mobility for residents. Mayor Enrique Galindo Ceballos awarded the program a Welfare Guarantee Seal, noting that urban infrastructure improvements, such as ramps in over 220 roads, aim to remove physical barriers.

In Puebla Capital, the DIF has launched a service to issue official disability certificates through the Municipal Center for Equine Therapy and Integral Rehabilitation (CMERI). These documents, which certify visual, auditory, intellectual, neuromotor, or psychosocial disabilities, allow individuals to complete various official procedures. Applicants must undergo a medical evaluation following national standards and provide specific documentation, including proof of identity and residence, for a recovery fee of 180 pesos.
