Municipal financial disputes and debts reported in Michoacán and Cuautitlán Izcalli

In Michoacán, residents of the El Mirador subdivision have staged a peaceful protest and occupied water utility offices to demand accountability from their neighborhood board of directors. Led by Joel N. and treasurer Gabriela N., the board is accused of failing to provide financial reports regarding the management of community resources. Residents also allege an outstanding debt of 12 million pesos owed to the Uruapan Commission for Drinking Water, Sewerage, and Sanitation (CAPASU) for sanitation and drainage services.

Separately, in the State of Mexico, the Mayor of Cuautitlán Izcalli, Daniel Serrano, reported significant financial instability inherited from the previous administration. Serrano stated that the municipality faced a labor liability exceeding 2 billion pesos, along with various debts, including 300 million pesos owed to the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), 95 million pesos in tax credits from the SAT, and 81 million pesos owed to ISSEMYM. Due to these budget constraints, the current administration opted for a vehicle leasing contract totaling approximately 357 million pesos to maintain operational capacity.
