Municipal Tree Removal Projects in San Sebastián (Puebla) and Saltillo, Mexico

Municipal authorities in Puebla’s San Sebastián district explained that the removal of four trees was authorized by a mobility and infrastructure request for a pedestrian safety project, which has since been halted. The environment secretary, Iván Herrera Villagómez, noted the original private request and that residents opposed the action.

In Saltillo, the municipal government reported the removal of two trees that fell during recent rains, one in Alameda Zaragoza and another near boulevard Francisco Coss. The department plans to plant four new ever‑green oak trees and highlighted ongoing reforestation efforts supported by state, federal, private, and civil‑society partners.
