Municipal Tree‑Planting Initiatives Expand Urban Greenery in Argentina and Mexico

The city of Concepción del Uruguay in Argentina announced a municipal arboriculture program that will plant 100 new trees and replace 50 that failed to thrive, covering a 16‑block area bounded by Estrada, Perú, Posadas, Santa María de Oro, Bartolomé Mitre and Artusi. The effort is part of a broader plan to purchase 300 saplings and reach a total of 300 planted trees by 2026, improving shade, air quality and heat‑island mitigation.

Meanwhile, the Puebla city council in Mexico set a target to plant more than 10,000 trees across the municipality this year, aiming to exceed the record set in 2025 when 71,000 trees and about 16,000 additional plants were installed. Officials say the expanded canopy will help combat global warming‑related flooding and improve urban health.
