Municipal Winter Support Plans Unveiled in Río Grande (AR) and San Fernando (CL)

The Municipality of Río Grande in Argentina continued its winter assistance program by delivering more than 103 cubic metres of recalc – a forest‑industry by‑product used for heating – to farms, along with wood chips for animal bedding. The aid supports local pork, poultry and fruit‑vegetable producers and includes technical assistance, sanitary controls and regular visits to maintain production during the cold season.

In San Fernando, Chile, water utility Essbio presented its 2026 Winter Plan, outlining preventive actions such as robotic inspection and cleaning of over 37,000 metres of sewer lines, removal of about 70 tonnes of extraneous waste, and measures to protect water meters from freezing. The plan also details emergency protocols, backup generators and coordinated response with municipal authorities to ensure service continuity during winter conditions.
