Municipalities and companies advance regional water service management plans

In Colombia, the municipalities of Balboa, Mercaderes, and Patía in the Cauca department are progressing toward a new administrative model for the Río Bermejo Regional Aqueduct. During a technical meeting led by EMCASERVICIOS S.A. E.S.P., local mayors and officials discussed the creation of a service provider company. The discussions focused on establishing the financial, legal, and operational frameworks necessary for sustainability, including the distribution of responsibilities among the participating municipalities.

In Argentina, Aguas Santafesinas SA (ASSA) has announced a tentative plan to take over potable water and sewage services in Santotome starting July 1, 2027. Company representative Pablo Tubio stated that the goal is to sign an agreement between the company, the province, and the municipality by December of this year. While the transition is expected to improve service, officials noted that improvements will be gradual. Currently, the municipality remains responsible for service provision while technical teams evaluate infrastructure and financial requirements.
