Brazil education sectors prepare for 2027 enrollment and exams
Various Brazilian states and municipalities are implementing procedures for the 2027 academic year. In Espírito Santo, the state government is being urged to provide free public transportation for students participating in the Enem exams in November. Additionally, the state's Department of Education has announced that enrollment for 230,000 public school vacancies will occur between November 9 and December 11, 2026.
In Rio de Janeiro, the state education department is opening a period for students to renew enrollments or change courses and shifts via the Matrícula Fácil website. Meanwhile, in the city of Cuiabá, officials clarified that priority for Bolsa Família beneficiaries is maintained for 2027 enrollments, though the specific tie-breaking criterion based on the number of family members in the program was removed in 2023.
Other regional updates include enrollment periods for municipal schools in Maceió, Ubá, Jataí, and Várzea Paulista. In São Paulo, the Provão Paulista exam is underway for students in the Campinas region to access university vacancies. In Rio de Janeiro, private schools face potential cost increases of up to 25% due to changes in teacher working hours.
