Municipality of Trikala defends urban development projects

Apostolis V. Pappas, a communications advisor for the Municipality of Trikala, has issued a response to local criticism regarding municipal projects and delays. Highlighting the recent inauguration of the central square, Pappas argues that the new square, combined with the Lithaios riverbank zone, the local market, and the commercial center, creates a modern urban aesthetic that distinguishes the city from its previous pre-war appearance.

The advisor listed several completed and ongoing infrastructure works, including flood prevention measures, urban redevelopment in areas such as Karditsis and Varousi, and various paving projects. Other highlighted developments include the renovation of cultural spaces like the warehouses near the railway, the development of the Sotiras sports park, and water supply improvements.

Environmental and utility upgrades were also noted, specifically the replacement of asbestos pipes in the city center after 60-70 years and the construction of a biological treatment plant in Megala Kalyvia.
