Trikala urban redevelopment projects
Overview
The city of Trikala has completed the inauguration of the Polytechnic Heroes Square, a major urban redevelopment project spanning over four years. The project, which includes greenery, water features, and reorganized monuments, was finished under the administration of Mayor Nikos Sakkas and Regional Governor Dimitris Kouretas.
Following the ceremony, municipal communications advisor Apostolis V. Pappas defended the city’s development strategy against local criticism regarding delays and project choices. The municipality highlighted that the new square is part of a broader modernization effort including the Lithaios riverbank, the local market, and various infrastructure works such as flood prevention, water supply improvements, and the replacement of aging asbestos pipes.
