Muíños, Spain completes renovation of public rental home
On July 3, the deputy territorial representative of the Xunta de Galicia in Ourense, Manuel Pardo, together with Muíños mayor Plácido Álvarez, handed over the keys to a newly renovated public rental dwelling in the municipality of Muíños, province of Ourense, Galicia. The project rehabilitated the former Mugueimes health‑centre building, creating a 127‑square‑metre apartment with four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a separate toilet and a shared living‑kitchen area.
The total investment reached €118,000, comprising €50,000 from the Xunta’s aid line for municipalities with fewer than 30,000 inhabitants, a €28,000 loan from the Xunta’s Cooperation Fund, and €40,000 contributed by the Provincial Council of Ourense. The deputy highlighted that the Xunta has earmarked €2.1 million this year for similar programmes, raising the maximum grant per dwelling to €65,000. Since 2017, the Galician government has financed the rehabilitation of 266 homes across 97 municipalities, 93 of which are in Ourense.
